“While her clients adore her natural and spontaneous ability to make them feel at ease at all times, she is one aggressive adversary to stand against in Court.”
Hazell is a Director and the Head of Private Wealth and Matrimonial Practice of the firm. She specialises in divorce, family related disputes, probates and administration.
Hazell has been selected by Thomson Reuters' Asian Legal Business ("ALB") as the finalist for (i) Woman Lawyer of the Year; and (ii) Young Lawyer of the Year in the coveted ALB's South East Asia Law Awards 2021. The awards recognise the quality work of lawyers in the region.
Further, Hazell was also one of the first lawyers in Singapore to be named finalists for the following categories in the inaugural Woman in Law Awards 2021: (i) Rising Star of the Year; and (ii) Women's Advocate of the Year.
Under her stewardship, our firm was also named the top five finalists in South East Asia for the Matrimonial and Family Law Firm of the Year. This is a regional recognition on the work done by our team for divorce and matrimonial matters.
Hazell believes in quality work, not quantity of work. As such, every client would be managed directly by our team of matrimonial lawyers from the commencement to the end of the dispute and/or divorce. Hazell is also selective on engagements and would only undertake cases which she believes she could add value to.
Hazell had completed her legal training in both Singapore and Malaysia. After getting called to the Singapore Bar, Hazell commenced her practice in one of the Big Four Law Firms in Singapore.
Hazell’s main areas of practice include matrionial law, wealth planning (wills, trust, probate and administration), landlord-tenancy disputes, and defamation.
In relation to matrimonial matters, Hazell has been the lead counsel in both contentious and non-contentious divorces, as well as PPO, interim care and control, and other matrimonial related applications.
Having appeared in all levels of the Singapore Courts early in her practice, Hazell possesses a strong grasp on civil procedures and the timelines involved. Hazell is therefore able to provide clients with the most practical and effective advice for their disputes.
Understanding how high legal fees may be prohibitive for the public, Hazell is also a firm believer in making quality legal services accessible to everyone. In her spare time, Hazell volunteers for the community.
Hazell's primary research interest centres around matrimonial and divorce laws.
